Kate Turns 40 – Today, Kate Moss turns 40 years-old, but of course this is something you probably already knew, right? With her Playboy cover shoot, television documentary, photo exhibit and other events; January has been all about celebrating the supermodel’s birthday. Now we continue the trend by rounding up twenty plus gorgeous images of the supermodel for her birthday in a very special edition of Throwback Thursday. Looks like modeling runs in the Moss family. Lottie Moss, half-sister to supermodel Kate, has been signed to London agency Storm Models at sixteen years old. The modeling agency already reps girls like Cara Delevingne and Lindsey Wixson. Recently, fashion photography duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott chatted to Style.com about their much buzzed about Playboy cover shoot with Kate Moss along with more of their famous works such as the spring Givenchy and Versace campaigns. On what makes Kate’s Playboy shoot different than the magazine’s other spread:
Marcus Piggott: “She’s dressed more than the girls in most Playboy editorials. It was a bit of a striptease. We wanted to leave a little bit to the imagination, and we wanted the reader to get excited imagining what’s underneath. But there are a lot of crazy pictures that you haven’t seen…”
Kate’s Documentary – In celebration of Kate Moss’ upcoming 40th birthday on January 16th, French television station Paris Premiere will air an exclusive documentary about the British supermodel on January 12th. “Looking for Kate” is directed by Dominique Miceli and while highlighting the almost unparalleled greatness of her career, it will also feature some of the more unsavory aspects of her life such as the mid-2000s cocaine scandal. David Ross, who photographed Moss’ first ever test shots, as well as Paolo Roversi, Peter Lindbergh and designer Isabel Marant will make an appearance in the documentary.
Throwback Donna Karan – This Thursday, we’re taking a look back at Donna Karan’s fall 2008 campaign. The images star supermodel Kate Moss photographed by Mert & Marcus on location at Union Station in Los Angeles. The advertisements are dark and seductive, with inspiration cited as the Orient Express. Fast forward to today, and Donna Karan’s latest campaign continues with a sensual theme, featuring Catherine McNeil.
Kate at 40 – In addition to her recent Playboy cover, supermodel Kate Moss will also be getting an art retrospective in honor of her 40th birthday next January, the Telegraph reports. Artist Russell Marshall selected ten images of Moss from age 14 to 39 that he thinks best depicts her face throughout the years. “Kate Moss: 40 – A Retrospective” will be open at the Imitate Modern Gallery in London on January 17th to February 15th, 2014.
Sexy Shoes – Returning for her third consecutive season as the face of Stuart Weitzman, Kate Moss strips down to an oversized shirt and a bodysuit for the spring 2014 advertisements. Short on location in St. Tropez by Mario Testino, Kate exudes pure seduction in the sun-kissed black and white images. In the campaign, Kate wears the Nudist and Accent heel styles.
Kate for ElevenParis – For its spring 2014 advertising campaign, ElevenParis gets a new face and the results are super. The legendary Kate Moss poses for in a colorful set of images lensed by Craig McDean. Fresh off her much buzzed about Playboy shoot, Kate looks as elegant and cool as ever in a motorcycle jacket and electric blue look with a distressed treatment. ElevenParis founders Dan Cohen & Oriel Bensimho say this about the casting, “Kate Moss was a natural choice to be the new face of the brand. Her unique style and her own close relationships with the music industry perfectly sum up what we always try to convey through our collection.”
