Beach Party – For its spring-summer 2013 collection, online retailer Nasty Gal is inspired by 90′s surf wear with a futuristic twist. Model Jasmine Tookes sports the 32 piece collection in new style book images showcasing a mix of sportswear luxe and urban casual. Nasty Gal introduces its first swimwear pieces featuring cutaways and unexpected silhouettes while also updating its well-known staples of moto jackets and dresses for the new season.
Lady Sings the Blues – Inspired by the practicality and glamour of the forties, DSquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten created angular silhouettes for their label’s pre-fall 2013 collection. Model Jasmine Tookes dons a mix of high-waisted pencil skirts, daywear jackets and menswear inspired tailoring reinterpreted with the DSquared2 aesthetic. Ultra-feminine looks in shades of lilac, carrot, rouge, sand, black and ruby-red place an emphasis on body conscious silhouettes. For evening wear, the DSquared2 woman gets ready to hit the town in floor-length silk chiffon and crêpe gowns.
The Machine-Gunneress in a State of Mind – The latest issue of Lurve Magazine taps Jasmine Tookes for its cover story, focusing on gothic fall fashions. Tetsuharu Kubota captures the American beauty in the autumn designs of Givenchy, Emilio Pucci, Azzedine Alaïa and others selected by fashion editor and creative director Maher Jridi. Face paint by makeup artist Aya Komatsu and sleek hair by Kenshin Asano bring a thoroughly modern touch to the regal style.

Isabel Marant’s Western Fall – Not a label known for following trends, the fall 2012 collection from Isabel Marant let its carefree spirit fly with the designer’s latest presentation shown during Paris Fashion Week. Inspired by southwestern style and cowgirls, autumn embraced feminine ruffles, floral detailing, casual denim and leather. Fringe and metallic accents brought an authentic touch to the well-tread theme. A muted color palette with pops of scarlet, electric blue and pink grounded the new season with a modern take on old west style.
Balmain’s Bejeweled Fall – Marking his second season as creative director of Balmain, French designer Olivier Rousteing look towards Fabergé eggs gave to Elizabeth Taylor as inspiration for the label’s fall 2012 collection. Balmain’s signature military inspired jackets took an elegant turn in the form of pearl and gem adorned skin-tight dresses, outerwear and velvet pants. Strong shoulders brought an androgynous edge to the ultra-sexy silhouettes in neutral hues of black, nude and mint green. Despite the classic reference, Rousteing still kept Balmain’s modern edge for the upcoming autumn with razor sharp precision.
Gianfranco Ferré’s Streamlined Fall – Designers Stefano Citron and Federico Piaggi presented their second collection for Gianfranco Ferré with the label’s fall 2012 showing presented on the final day of Milan Fashion Week. The two embraced an androgynous aesthetic and used a color palette of inky black, silvery grey, navy and off white. Forgoing patterns or jewelry, the new season was all about shape with streamlined silhouettes that were modern if not futuristic. Ferré’s androgynous heroine also got a touch of glam with the use of lush fur and metallic fabrics for the upcoming autumn.
DSquared2′s Teenage Dream – Well known for collections with quirky themes, the fall 2012 showing from DSquared2 designers Dan and Dean Caten went back in time for their own take on 1960′s high school fashions. Opening with modified versions of the pencil skirt, knitted cardigan and cigarette pants, models walked the runway with cigarettes in gloved hands and teased tresses. A color palette of powder pink, forest green, canary yellow and light blue transformed into black as the Catens took on evening wear or “prom fashions”. Black, slinky gowns adorned with jewelry and sparkling sequins closed the show for a more sumptuous take on the upcoming autumn.
