Actress Kristen Stewart wore a head to toe look from Balmain’s fall 2012 collection at the Australian premiere of “Snow White and the Huntsman” on June 19th. Kristen also paired the Fabergé egg-style ensemble with a messy bun in true rock and roll fashion.
Balmain’s Bejeweled Fall – Marking his second season as creative director of Balmain, French designer Olivier Rousteing look towards Fabergé eggs gave to Elizabeth Taylor as inspiration for the label’s fall 2012 collection. Balmain’s signature military inspired jackets took an elegant turn in the form of pearl and gem adorned skin-tight dresses, outerwear and velvet pants. Strong shoulders brought an androgynous edge to the ultra-sexy silhouettes in neutral hues of black, nude and mint green. Despite the classic reference, Rousteing still kept Balmain’s modern edge for the upcoming autumn with razor sharp precision.

Balmain Flair – After months of waiting, we finally have a full look at the highly anticipated Pierre Balmain spring 2012 collection. Tapping Snejana Onopka to model the hip and youthful wear, the debut line has all the trappings of Balmain’s well-known rock and roll aesthetic including form-fitting pants, cool prints, leather jackets and tailored blazers at more affordable prices starting at €120. Balmain’s Western Spring – With a new creative director, Balmain did not lose its rock and roll edge for the spring 2012 season under Olivier Rousteing’s western inspired vision. Skinny jeans, embroidered blazers and leggy hemlines dominated the runway with metallic and crystal accents in full force. Of course, no western inspired look is completed without fringe, sweeping skirts and chunky buckles.
Balmain creative director Christophe Decarnin was missing in action for the label’s fall 2011 presentation today, but the show went on with Decarnin’s rock and roll aesthetic fully on display. Models strutted down the runway in sparkly sequined tops and pants, white leather and plunging necklines baring a lot of skin. With all the glitter and shine, it seemed that Balmain was looking towards the glam rock phase of music history for its inspiration complete with Ziggy Stardust-esque jumpsuits.
