Power of Dress – Ava Smith models the new fall collection from fast fashion retailer H&M. The autumn outing is very fashion forward featuring a mix of sculpted shoulders, sequined patterns, abstract prints and sporty caps. A dark palette of plum, inky black, ash grey, mustard and navy sets the tone for the season.
Back to Nature – English author Beatrix Potter’s botanical illustrations inspired Preen designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi for the label’s fall 2012 collection. The pair, originally from Britain, brought a bit of the English countryside to New York Fashion Week with floral patterns, butterfly prints and bold color blocking on the runway. Silhouettes hinged on classic with ’40s inspired dress shapes and tapered pants. The final section embraced a ladylike demureness with sheer lace tops and sequin embellished skirts.
Working Girls – Models Maud Welzen and Ava Smith don this fall’s reinvented work wear for the October issue of BlackBook editorial lensed by Jason Kim. Structured, sleek and minimal, these looks make a powerful and sophisticated statement against Kim’s complementary backdrops. Styled by Christopher Campbell, the girls wear selects from labels including Theyskens’ Theory, Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, Salvatore Ferragamo and Michael Kors. Side-swept hair by Shlomi Mor and clean make-up with a statement brow by Samantha Trinh add a strong finishing touch.
Shooting with photographer Rupert Tapper, Elite’s Ava Smith brings her own brand of energy and allure to these sensuous images. Whether enjoying nature’s beauty or jumping on an unmade bed, Ava smolders in feminine and lightweight ensembles styled by Paul Bui.
