Alexander McQueen Fall 2014–After last season’s tribal warrior, the fall-winter 2014 collection from Alexander McQueen returned to the Elizabethan silhouettes that have become familiar to the brand under Sarah Burton. The outing of wild fur coats, pleated A-line skirts and dresses embroidered with oversized crystals has a fairy tale element–a dark fairy tale that is. There is something slightly eerie about the models twisted braids and pale painted faces juxtaposed with a black, white and purple palette. The two finale looks end on an ethereal note–long sheer gowns in ivory with eyelet details and finished in lightweight feathers give a romantic touch to the dark outing.

Alexander McQueen’s Urban Warrior – For the past several seasons, Sarah Burton’s vision at Alexander McQueen has been a vaguely romantic one. With the label’s spring 2014 season, Burton takes the McQueen woman in a new direction with an outing of armor-like clothing. Tribal inspired fringes and bold patterns take over for spring in red, blue and black and white. Although a warrior, the McQueen woman also embraces her feminine side in fluffy feathers, layered and full skirts as well as detailed lacework. Hard elements like sculpted jackets, leather harnesses and silver helmets create a powerful statement for the upcoming spring.
Cate in McQueen – Cate Blanchett attended the premiere of her film “Blue Jasmine” in Beverly Hills yesterday. The Australian actress opted to wear an ivory and black draped gown from Alexander McQueen’s resort 2014 collection to the red carpet event. Cate paired the look with a silver clutch.
Fine Fall – Alexander McQueen keeps it simple for its fall 2013 campaign where it lets the clothes tell the story with a set of black and white studio images shot by David Sims. British model Edie Campbell is the star of the autumn advertisements featuring designs with a divine inspiration ranging from Catholicism to the Virgin Queen, Elizabeth I. The pearl-adorned bodices and opulent face guards are given full attention in the striking photographs.
Alexander McQueen Resort – For Alexander McQueen’s resort 2014 collection, creative director Sarah Burton was inspired by 1940s, World War II era style with an outing of pale neutrals, strong blues and tawny browns. This season, there is a focus on the waist with crop tops, belting and cinched cotton jackets. Although Burton’s inspiration goes back to the factory girl days, the second half of the collection evokes 60s flower child with midriff baring tops, floral motifs, crotched detailing and patchwork denim.
