Feminine Frills at Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs put on a show for Louis Vuitton’s spring 2012 collection amid strong rumors that he is set to take the job as Dior creative director. As for the new Vuitton collection, a white carousel set the stage for the new season with models wearing feminine frocks on the catwalk. Pastel hues, peekaboo cutouts, tweeds and ostrich feathers defined the Louis Vuitton woman for spring with a play on girlish innocence and 60s style. Beauty for the show included pink lips and smoky eyes paired up with a slightly disheveled up-do. Supermodel Kate Moss closed the show in an ivory frock.
This is about as bad as it can get, no wonder the models look so miserable having to wear such dowdy, passe “frocks”. “Frocks” indeed!
It may in fact be unfair to view any parades today after the joy of Chanel and the restrained genius of Alexander McQueen but this really is about as slack as it gets. Couldn’t Vuitton even get someone to do the model’s hair properly?

I agree, I don’t like this collection. I’m sure, however, that many of the shoes and jackets will show up in many editorials which is good because as far as the shoes and leather jackets are concerned – I like them.
gorgeous jackets and textures! but some silhouettes are not doing anything even for the models… and i really hate the shoes. not pretty.Â
This actually looks pretty good if you view the Miu Miu collection first.

I like the texture of the clothes. The silhouettes are not flattering, though. The jackets are pretty fabulous, as well as the bags. I spotted a glamorous minaudiere there.
these are the most unhappy models of the season.
I don’t think it’s horrible, but it’s not great either. Â I like the easter egg-y pastel color palette, though most of the shapes are bulky. Â The leather jackets are the saving grace, they are fantastic. Â Say what you will about Ms. Â Moss, but if you watch her walk on Style, she’s still pretty fabulous. Â As a whole though, the set-up reminded me of McQueen’s Fall 2001 show, but a “pretty” version- whereas McQueen’s was eerie and brilliant, this was sweet and safe. Â I’m certain Marc wasn’t trying to copy McQueen’s idea, but it’s hard for me to look at carousels & fashion shows together without thinking of his particular show!
Not getting LV vibe at all.
I actually love this. first time in a very long time i have liked a LV collection apart from the resort collections. Some of the ill-fitting dresses probably will be taken in when they are produced for commercial sales, I think its just for runway to make a statement (many designers do this, then alter their clothes from runway for the sales racks)

I really do hope Marc doesnt get to be Dior’s creative director….Dior must keep being brilliant, and well, this is not….His brand is great, but i dont like this collection. there are some pretty details, but the rest is not. But well, the carousel was rather beautiful.
