Karlie Kloss by Greg Kadel for Numéro #129

Magic Karlie – Proving to be a tour de force for the December issues, Karlie Kloss stars in the Numéro #129 with these striking images captured by Greg Kadel. A mix of high gloss fashion and gritty industry, Karlie dons a colorful wardrobe styled by Elizabeth Sulcer which features the work of Tom Ford, Givenchy and Yves Saint Laurent amongst others. A cool palette by makeup artist Maki Ryoke and fiery locks by hair stylist Raymond McLaren perfect the magical vision.

  1. i LOVE the image where she’s wearing the furry white coat, 7th after the jump.. so strong!

  2. Despite the great photographer, the standout colors and the interesting styling this just falls flat.

Karlie’s poses might be routine and her expressions bland but it’d not really that. She just doesn’t “project” for the camera – that wild persona of the runway just isn’t present in most of her editorial work. Maybe she’s working it too hard or maybe she isn’t putty in the photographer’s hands or maybe sh just needs an audience.

As a color story, or a textures story — yes yes yes!  But I’m not taking away any kind of narrative, which is what usually connects me to a shoot.
