Dior’s Tamed Spring – After last season’s Galliano fall-out, fashion house Christian Dior put atelier director Bill Gaytten in charge of its spring 2012 collection and the change was evident. The new season showcased a less extravagant Dior woman with classic silhouettes that paid homage to feminine curves and Parisian style. Prints varied from mosaic-like to herringbone and stripe patterns, bringing a bit of pop to the minimal palette. Not losing sight of Dior’s extravagant evening wear looks, however, the finale featured lingerie inspired gowns made of sheer material, silk, tulle and lace.

  1. I guess it would okay if we didn’t have Galliano’s brilliance seared in the retina. Some of these are very pretty and chic– and then there are a slew of silhouettes that are way too boxy on the models—this doesn’t bode well for normal women.

  2. COME ON…. if we were just judging this collection based on what it is and not who (or who didn’t) design this or how it is compared to the style of past seasons, it is pretty decent, there are some quite lovely dresses on the third and last page!

    • I don’t think people look at/are intrigued by fashion that is “pretty decent,” though I guess I can see what you’re getting at.

  3. the last two pages are a lot better, but nothing ground breaker. also, some of the designs some how manage to make some of the models look… big. it really wouldn’t be as bad if there wasn’t galliano’s brilliance to compare to.
