The pre-fall 2011 collection from Alexander McQueen has us standing at attention with its military inspired pieces perfect for the battlefied that is fashion. McQueen designer Sarah Burton stayed with a restrained color palette of navy, black and red hues along with metal details which we also saw in the spring season. Luxe jackets and tailored bottoms were accompanied by above the knee dresses, offsetting the masculine influence with a feminine edge.

  1. Absolutely beautiful! And my boyfriend was just telling me I needed to get a military/pirate-esque jacket…

I think Sarah really was the perfect choice to continue McQueen’s legacy.

  2. i agree about the penultimate look! i also like the use of red, it pretty enlights the whole collection… strict yet glamorous! the shape variations really caught my attention

  5. @Russian Bear. if you think sarah creates shit, then, you should be a disgrace of McQueen.

i have to agree. when sarah took over mcqueen. everyone was nervous for her.
but she proved to us that mcqueen will succeed under her. and hands down, yet another sublime collection .
    SALUTE !

  6. This is McQueen, but its not forced. Sarah has put her own signature in it, by softening it up…pre-fall and resort are KNOWN to be more commercial and consumer friendly.

Alexander himself wanted his brand to continue after his passing, and NOBODY does it better or knows it better than the woman who was his right hand for 15 years. “Haters” to the side…you have no arguement.

  8. am I the only one who doesn’t find this appealing at all? Those jackets make the model look 40 pounds heavier and 25 years older! Clothes are meant to flatter and inspire, not make you frumpy and minimal.
This is a horrible collection, hopefully in the future Sarah realizes she can’t pull off what Pheobe Philo can, and start developing her own imagine in what she learned with McQueen.

  11. Dont get me wrong this is beautiful. But its just not McQueen. I wish so badly he was alive becuase im afraid we will never see somone like him again. At first I gave sarah a chance but now we see 2 collections and they arent Mcqueen. I can certainly see that she is inspired but its like da vinci trying to paint a picaso. If he wouldnt have died I would think that sarah should start her own line so we have both. But beyond everything… she doesnt use print like he did. He made print that could so easily look tacky but instead gave the clothing a God-like divinity. Nobody uses print like him and Sarah burton certainly doesnt. That is my biggest disapointment.
